Saturday Centus

This week’s Saturday Centus reminded me of a story my mom told me just a few years ago. It was a story of when she was a young, nervous Indian bride living with her husband in Dubai, away from her family. Read on…it’s a true story.

She carefully broke the egg into the pan. Oh no! The yolk had broken again. She slapped her forehead. Her husband of one month was particular about his eggs. “If the yolk’s broken, the egg aint any good,” he says. She quickly dumped it in the bin and had the next one in the pan. Chssszzzzz- it fried quite nicely. She proudly looked at the sunny side up. “Is it ready honey,” he peeped into the kitchen. “Just bringing it,” she smiled sweetly. And as she took it out of the pan- plop- the yellow liquid oozed out

ok, first of all, her husband needs to get a clue. Makes me sad for her marriage. :)

Great job.

Surely the man isn't serious about a broken yolk. Then again, if he doesn't have to fix it for himself, he probably makes more demands! He needs to have some scrambled eggs for about a week!

Drat! I hate it when that happens. My late husband loved sunny-side-up eggs.

I love the way you put your words together and make this piece so readable.

Great Centus.

great story. I don't think I would have recooked the egg though. But I guess in that time this was what was expected as a wife (cooking perfectly a husbands breakfast)

What a cute story. I can't cook those kind of eggs either...

That's why my husband likes scrambled...whether he actually does OR NOT! ha!

Thanks for the smile.

This was cute.

Great little story that feels like a good mix of both real experience and fiction.
